You just want to try something out quickly (a new small LED light for precise illumination of smaller objects and for creating light accents), and suddenly it turns into real fun. Yes, that's how it can go.

And once again there's another argument for why customers really shouldn't ask for the RAWs. Seriously, you don't really want them.

The fancy backgrounds are the responsibility of colleague AI, but they could of course have been achieved just as easily without it. It's just that it was faster this way.

For this photo shoot, all the employees gathered for the shift change in an area of the halls that was still free at the time, and I was allowed to take to the skies in the basket of the forklift truck, which was great fun. 

As the hall floor had already been through a lot, I released the group afterwards.

Over the years, the result has been used repeatedly for publications with different backgrounds.

In 2003, Stefanie Gatzemeier-Nolden chose rdh|kommunikation as the agency to accompany her ambitious start-up company "fadenversand.de" on its first steps. In addition to the CI, she also received the web shop and the accompanying print advertising from a single source.

With a large selection of handmade products right from the start, it was clear that a large number of images had to be created for presentation in the web shop. It was particularly time-consuming to display the colours as correctly as possible on the various screens.

01.04.2022 - The revolutionary book balancing station

An April Fool's joke with little effort and a big fun factor ...

Booksellers know the problem: some books simply won't stand up straight in the shop window or on the sales floor or fall over again straight away - no matter how carefully they are fanned out and balanced. We have been working on this for a long time and have developed an ingenious solution. Now it's here: the first prototype of our new book balancing station! The whole thing is already running amazingly smoothly and the balanced books stand like a charm! Our push tests even showed incredible resistance to wilful overturning. What's more, the books balanced by us are absolutely stable at an angle of up to 7.2 degrees - even when other books (at least 100 pages for hardcovers) are leant against them. The first customers are so enthusiastic that we are already offering this globally unique additional service as standard from today, 1 April 2022!
Incidentally, the video was made using the blue screen method so that no technical details of our invention can be seen before the patent is legally registered.

These photos are from a photo shoot I did for Pioneer Electronics Germany in May 2017. The focus was on the NavGate EVO for the Fiat Ducato, a media centre with special navigation software for motorhomes, which was launched on the market soon afterwards.

The selected images were mainly used in catalogues and advertisements. The dashboard was used in large format on one wall of the trade fair stand.

The Schaumann bookbindery uses this brochure to advertise 5S seminars on its premises, which are conveniently an ideal illustrative object. The cover picture is from a photo shoot I did at the beginning of 2016. You can find more photos from it under PHOTOGRAPHY.

What is "5S"? Among other things, the 5S method leads to an increase in quality and reliability through systematic organisation and cleanliness. It originated in Japan and creates minimalist and tightly organised workplaces and work processes that make work easier, safer, more efficient and more productive. The first step is to determine exactly what is needed where and when.

Everything that is not needed is removed. An ergonomically sensible storage location is then selected for each individual item that is actually needed.

All tools and work materials are therefore permanently assigned a special place. They are only ever stored there and are always put back there after use. This system becomes second nature over time and benefits employees, the company and customers.

After all, a perfectly organised workplace also boosts motivation and helps to identify deviations at an early stage, often preventing errors from occurring in the first place.

At the Schaumann bookbindery, all workstations are now organised by 5S in such a way that work can run smoothly: nobody has to search for tools or work equipment. Long transport routes and unnecessary waiting times are also avoided.

Together with the employees, a clean and tidy working environment has been created, which is maintained with every move - the basis for high-quality work, which of course also benefits the company's customers.

At the end of 2012, Subvenio e.V. - a charitable organisation that supports accident victims - approached me with a request to create a brochure to attract companies and institutions as donors.
